Synthetic-Mineral-Synthetic Swapping(합성유에서 광유,다시 광유에서 합성유로의 교체)

Synthetic-Mineral-Synthetic Swapping
My wife took her 2001 Mercedes-Benz E320S 4Matic to
a local shop to get its brake pads replaced.
I suggested getting the oil changed between
servicing as a precaution.
However, despite the recommendation
for synthetic oil, the local mechanic used
dinosaur-derived (mineral) motor oil.
Granted, he used the proper weight,
however, it's not synthetic.
I realize many folks have switched their cars
from fossil oil to synthetic and that there are branded blends of fossil/synthetic,
but I've never heard of switching from synthetic to fossil.
Should I be concerned for either
the long- or short-term?
Should I have the shop replace the filter and
all the oil with synthetic?
This car is used daily as the family shuttle and
rarely gets to stretch out its legs Autobahn-style.
And as you know, it gets pretty darn warm out
this way during the summer.
So I assume this qualifies for heavy-duty use.Alvin Lin

Clearly the shop made a mistake if they were
instructed to fill with synthetic
but used mineral oil.
In that case they should change to the correct oil
on their nickel.
Mechanically, the mineral oil will not harm
the engine in the short term, so you can change back
to synthetic at your convenience.
Mineral oils form more deposits than synthetics,
and are less tolerant of high temperature,
so it would be smart to change back to synthetic
sooner rather than later,
and in any case before the harsh desert heat takes its toll.
